March 13, 2017 P-Day #46

Hello beautiful people!!!

This week has been a different one! We had a zone conference and leadership conference with a member of the quorum of the seventy!!! It was GREAT!!!!!! We learned a lot!! I feel like we learned soo many wonderful things to implement in the mission to be better!

Poor Sister Kilmer got a call that her mom is in the hospital with severe brain bleeding. So that has been really hard for her.  They thought she was in a lot worse shape at first but after much fasting and prayer the bleeding has stopped and now they are just trying to figure out where the bleeding came from in the first place. She has had no memory loss or other side effects they thought she would.  Sister Kilmer had permission from president to talk to them every night on the phone for the next few days so they can keep her updated on the progress (: Its really looking good, but please keep Sister Kilmer and her mom in your prayers!!!!

This week a wonderful member took us to a place called, "Sugar Moon" its a maple syrup farm, I know, I know I am literally SO Canadian! I can feel the maple syrup pulsing through my veins! I have finally figured out the reason Canadians are so happy...REAL maple syrup! Aunt jamima ain't got nothing on my people up here!!! Sooo gooooood! Soo that is why you are going to be getting sooo many pictures of us at this place...its heaven! We had so so so much fun! Maple cocoa, maple whip cream, maple bacon, maple pancakes, and of course two maple wasted sisters (:

Love love love you!!!

March 6, 2017 P-Day #45

Hey hey greetings from Truro!!!
1st things first I LOVE my companion Sister Kilmer...like wow! To illustrate this love I am going to provide a list of all the things we have in common:
- Disney obsession
- Love of pink
- Love of Sparkles
- Frozen obsession....we both have frozen comforters
- Graduated the same year
- From Utah
- Both have the same unicorn onsie
Talk about match made in Heaven...literally
This week was fab! Sad to leave Halifax, but I am so close it’s really not too bad!! Truro is only about a 45 min. drive from Hali! Truro is really really small town! I feel like I am back with the Newfies (: It’s a great place! I am in a branch again! With about 50 people who regularly attend. There is a walmart and that’s about it haha

Wednesday, my last day in Halifax was really fun! We saw the Morphy's who weren't sad at all because I'll still see them (score!!) and went and got ice cream with my YSA homies!! (:
Then off to Truro!

Now, you're probably wondering what the heck I thought she was in a trio..well I was...then Sister Buchanan felt very strongly that the reason she extended her mission 10 days was to be in St. Stephan where she was before! Sooo we were in a trio for 22 hours...then there were two!

My first official business as an STL was saving the Assistants who ran out of gas on the side of the highway while transporting missionaries to their new areas...oh Elders...they are just lovely hahah! But don't worry we made them take a picture to document the moment (:

This week has mostly been getting settled in and figuring out this stl thing! It’s been a ball!
We have a zone conference this week with Elder Muers of the quorum of the seventy! So that will be exciting! He is coming to tour the mission and then he will train us on whatever he feels the Canada Halifax Mission needs (:

Okay...funny embarrassing story of the week..back ground first, there are deer everywhere here, so we are always stopping to let them cross the road. Then, the first night I was here it was almost 9 so we were driving home and something darted across the street and I yelled, "WOAH!! That is a freakin SMALL deer!!!!" to which Sister Kilmer replied, "Sister Hird...that was a cat..." Ahhhhh missions...they do things to a person....(:

Well I just love you all!! I Hope you have the bestest week ever!!
If you are bored feel free to hit me up some letters, we do lots of letter writing in Truro on P-day because there isn't much to do haha! 492 Young Street building E apartment 8 b2n 0a5
LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!!!
Don't hit any small deer while driving on the road this week! (: (:

-Sista Bird 🐦(thanks to the assistants that is now what everyone calls me) xoxo
The last Halifax district picture before transfers...the elders told me I couldn’t handle eating plain hot sauce...as you can tell from the picture they were in fact correct...(:

Ice cream with Sarah and Jess my YSA besties (:

That tiny little blurb on the side of the sign is me..if you couldn't tell

The Elders are just lucky we didn't leave them on the side of the highway (:

March 1, 2017 P-Day #44 TRANSFERRED!!

Woo!

Transfers are in! I am going to be going to Truro!! And Sister Goodsell will be staying here in Halifax! Truro is still in Nova Scotia and only a few hours away! I will be an STL (sister traning leader) which is the female equivalent of a zone leader. My companions will be Sister Kilmer and Sister Buchanan! I know and love them both already! We served around each other in Newfoundland! Sister B. is leaving to go home in three weeks ( she extended her mission by 3 weeks)! So I am killing (mission wise haha ahh mission lingo) another companion (: I also hear there is a baptism Mach 8th there! Sooo good things are happening people! I am really excited!!

PLUS the best part?? The morphy girls are on date to be baptized this month!!! WHAAAA!! Woo woo!! AND they go to Truro a couple times a months and attend the branch there..SO I will still get to see them lots!!! Hey now hey nooow this is what dreeeams are made of!!
SO life is gooood! I am really really happy!! A little nervous to be an STL...but God doesn't call the qualified...he qualifies the called, right?(: ...or at least I keep telling myself that haha
For those of you like me before I got out here who have no clue what and Stl is or does I'll fill you in:
-oversee the progress of all the sisters they are over (we are over 6 sisters) we hold exchanges with them and see how they are doing in all aspects and then find ways to help them
-Give trainings to all the missionaries in our zones (eeek)
-Participate in the MLC (mission leadership counsel)
-attend and hold many meetings to help the missions under our stewardship
-report to President Pratt on the well being of the mission and missionaries
So wooooo! Scared and excited!!!
Time is just flying! I can't believe I am already leaving Hali! 4 1/2 months here flew by! I also can't believe I turn 20 in 20 days! Its my birth month! WHAAAA when in the heck did I get so old! Imma need cane here soon!

I love love love you all!!! You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers!

-Sista Hird

Ps. My mission mantra is "if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely" -Roald Dahl
I am constantly saying this to myself and I just love it so I thought I would share!

I got a costco card this week! Thanks Papa and Lolo!

Mickey mouse meal provided by a wonderful member! They know me SO well (:

My doll and I haha the little girl, Abby is seriously obsessed! she only calls me "princess" and I won't lie...I love it haha
